Studio Policies and More

Ignite Studio Policies & Procedures
Our dance year is made up of two semesters; fall and spring. We will have an in studio showcase at the close of first semester. Our recital is held in May to showcase each class. Exact dates for start of semester, end of semester, and recitals differ from year to year. These dates are announced by the studio when known. We also offer specialty workshops  and mini sessions each summer. These are announced in the spring, and are available to register from that point.

Registration – Each student must fill out a registration form; either online or at the studio. Once this form is completed, the studio will email a confirmation and give all information needed for that semester. A spot is not ensured until the registration fee has been paid. Students will only be allowed to change or transfer classes based on class space availability and instructor approval.

Monthly PaymentsMonthly Tuition is due on the 5th and considered late after the 10th. Payment, that is received after the 10th, will have a $10 late fee. Returned checks will have a $10 fee applied. We do not offer payment adjustments for absences, holidays, or amount of classes in a calendar month. If ever you are in need of making a payment arrangement, for a special circumstance, please contact the studio directly.

Payments – Ignite Studio accepts Cash, Check and Venmo. Please view our pricing page for details. Registration fee is nonrefundable. Costume fee will not be refundable.

Arrival and Pick-Up – Students should arrive at the studio no earlier than 5 minutes prior to class time and should be picked up no later than 5 minutes after class time. Parents staying to watch is discouraged, unless your instructor has invited you to do so. Parents are asked not to enter the studio for pickup more than 5 minutes before pickup time to avoid disrupting the class. We do our best to make the most of the time that we have to instruct our students.

Parent’s Watching – Parents are allowed to stay and watch the class, only when invited by the instructors. We have found that a majority of our students learn better without any distractions. On the limited occasions where you are invited to stay, we ask for respectfulness to teachers and students.  Please refrain from eating, talking loudly, using your phone, and or interacting with the class that is being taught.
For the safety of everyone in the studio, do not allow siblings to enter the dance instruction area.

Attendance – If a student is going to miss more than 2 classes during the month, please contact the studio.  This allows the teacher to make any necessary changes to choreography and  to be prepared to help the student when he/she returns to class. Please remember that monthly payment amounts stay the same despite a student missing a class. If a student misses class, a make-up class may be scheduled by e-mailing the studio if there is one available. We cannot stress enough, the importance of the students being there for their regularly scheduled class time. Attendance ensures that the student can be confident and prepared for their performance.

Dress Code  – We do not have an official dress code at our studio, unless you are a member of our competitive team. We feel picking out what to wear to dance class is one of our dancer’s biggest joys. We only ask that clothes worn to class are appropriate; such as tights, leotards, tutus, or leggings or athletic wear. Proper dance shoes are required, and students must have them by the end of the first month. Dance classes require black ballet shoes or black jazz shoes. Ballet/Tap combo classes require black tap shoes and pink ballet shoes. Cheer classes require white sneakers. Light suntan or nude tights are the preferred tights color for recital. Dancers may wear any color of tights to class. Please note that your dance instructor will be the best person to discuss your needs with during the semester.

Costumes – Students will have one costume during the dance year, to be worn during the recital. It is very important to Ignite Studio that our costumes be appropriate for young dancers. Parents can be assured that the studio will choose costumes that are not revealing or offensive. Parent or Guardian's initials are required to take a costume home. The size of costume ordered for each dancer is based off of the student’s body measurements and the costume company’s measurement guidelines. Any alterations needed to ensure a perfect fit are the responsibility of the student’s parents and not the studio. We send out style sheets, the month prior to recital, so that you are aware of what is needed for recital. Costume fees are due by the 1st day of class each semester.

Studio Closures- Our studio is closed for major holidays. This includes Thanksgiving break and spring break. If you are unsure about a holiday, please talk with your instructor or contact the studio directly.

Communication – Communication is extremely important to a successful dance studio. We regularly send out e-mails to keep parents informed on the latest studio information. If you are not receiving our e-mails, please let us know so we can get you the information. We hope that you will always feel comfortable communicating with our staff.
